Seven-point strategy by PM for ‘Doubling Farmers’Income’

Prime Minister has set a target to double the farmers’
income by 2022. And to achieve this target, he has
advocated a seven-point strategy:

1. Special focus on irrigation with the aim of “Per Drop More Crop”.
2. Provision of quality seeds and nutrients based on soil health of each field.
3. Large investments in Warehousing and Cold Chains to prevent post-harvest crop losses.
4. Promotion of value addition through food processing.
5. Creation of a National Agriculture Market,
6. Introduction of a new crop insurance scheme- ‘PM Fasal Bima Yojana’ 
     to mitigate risks at an affordable cost.
7. Promotion of ancillary activities like poultry, beekeeping, and fisheries.

1.      Per capita availability of milk rose by 15.6 per cent from 307 gms a day to 355 gms per day between 2013-14 and 2016-17, an official statement quoted the minister as saying.

5.      A National Conference with the title ‘Agriculture 2022 – Doubling Farmers’ Income’ will be organised by Agriculture Ministry in Delhi to build a consensus around appropriate recommendations and arrive at practicable solutions that can be implemented for the benefit of farmers in the country.
6.      Under the Union Budget 2018, the government would be doubling the farmer’s income by 2022 and would be working with the states to ensure that all farmers get a fair price for their produce.
